ELLEN DEGENERES IS OUT AT “AMERICAN IDOL”… JENNIFER LOPEZ IN?…. STEVEN TYLER, TOO?

Ellen DeGeneres is leaving “American Idol” after just one season as a judge. Ellen admitted it wasn’t the “right fit.”

Ellen Tweeted: “Dim the lights. I’ve voted myself off American Idol. The decision came a couple months ago. It was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”

She also said in a statement:

“A couple months ago, I let Fox and the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next.

“It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on ‘Idol’ and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”

ENTERTAINMENT SHOWS SILENT ON ANGELINA BOOK…. AFRAID OF A BRANGELINA BACKLASH

WE have been dishing details from Angelina Jolie’s upcoming unauthorized biography-- but TV entertainment shows have steered clear of the gossip.

Andrew Morton’s “Angelina: An Unauthorized Biography” is available tomorrow (Saturday), yet shows like “Extra,” “Access Hollywood,” “Entertainment Tonight” and “The Insider” have ignored it.

One publicity director has a theory: Entertainment news shows are worried about losing access to Angelina or Brad Pitt – both among Hollywood’s biggest “gets”. The shows are being intimidated into ignoring the story.

(The “Angelina” books includes the neglect she suffered as an infant by her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, and affairs with Leonardo DiCaprio, Ralph Fiennes, and others.)

JANET’S  TODD MARCHANT HOCKEY CAMP PICTURES!

SIX THINGS TO ALWAYS BUY GENERIC

A  new report says there are a half dozen grocery items you should always buy generic, because there’s very little difference other than cost.

From the website Walletpop.com… the products you should always buy generic. They include:

    * Over the counter medicine, like acetominophen. With Tylenol recalled right now, you almost have to buy generic.
    * Pantry staples, like flour, sugar, and salt: Can you tell the difference? Didn’t think so.
    * HDTV cables: Many magazines and websites say a $9 digital cable works as well as a $99 one.
    * Alkaline batteries: Even Consumer Reports says generics can work as well, often at half the price.
    * Bagged salad: Lettuce is lettuce.
    * Breakfast cereal.

KARA DIOGUARDI OUT AS ‘AMERICAN IDOL’ JUDGE

Nigel Lythgoe is returning as executive producer of ‘American Idol‘, and there may be only three judges at the table.

Sources say Nigel will take one of the seats himself, with the other two going to Randy Jackson and Ellen DeGeneres.

That would mean, Kara DioGuardi is out, as judge.

(Lythgoe left “Idol” in 2008 to focus on “So You Think You Can Dance.” In April, he told the press he thought “Idol” had become too much about the judges and not enough about the music.)

Ellen DeGeneres has a multiyear contract, and Randy Jackson is signed with “Idol” through 2011. DioGuardi was the only one who had a year-to-year contract with the show, and as of yet, she hasn’t signed one for this season.

A ‘ZEDONK’

A zedonk is attracting attention at a Wildlife Preserve in Dahlonega, Georgia.

It’s a cross between a donkey and a zebra.

The week-old animal has a zebra father and donkey mother, and it has black stripes on her legs and face.

The preserve’s general manager said the foal has a zebra’s instincts. She sits up instead of lying on her side, as if she’s staying alert for predators.

Donkeys and zebras don’t usually mate, but zedonks turn up occasionally.

In about two weeks, the zedonk will begin roaming the property with the rest of the animals.

‘GLEE’ TO DO THE ‘TIME WARP’

The writers of “Glee” are planning a “Rocky Horror Picture Show” episode.

Series co-creator Ryan Murphy says his writers want to do “The Time Warp” in the new season, and were currently working on it.

But they plan on “doing it in a fun, hallucinogenic way”.

JUSTIN BIEBER GUEST STARRING ON “CSI”

Justin Bieber is going to put down the microphone to do a little acting. Biebs won himself a guest role on “CSI”.

Justin’s episode will be the show’s season premiere in September.

Justin will make other appearances on the show later in the year because the storyline will last more than one episode.

 9 TRAITS OF IRRESISTIBLE WOMAN

1. She’s Funny. One of the easiest (and surprisingly least-practiced) methods of convincing us we made the right choice in talking to you is when you respond to our jokes instead of simply laughing at them. If you’re heehawing at our wisecracks, wonderful—just make sure you don’t leave a dead silence at the end of each one or we’re going to think you’re expecting a stand-up routine. We want a woman who’s our conversation partner—not just an adoring fan.

2. She’s Somewhere Between Aloof And Instantly In Love. As the law of supply and demand goes, we want to crave your attention before we get it. Once we have it, though, it’s nice to be reminded that you only have eyes for us.

3. She’s Fashionable—But Not Obsessively. If you spend most of your time and energy on clothes and shoes, we may suspect you are a bit superficial. Can we not sit around in our underwear once in a while if we’re feeling depressed? (OK, a very rare “once in a while,” fine.) We like a woman who minds her appearance but who also knows that being attractive is more about confidence than owning Manolos.

4. She’s Healthy—But Not Obsessively. Obviously men dig a woman with a kickin’ body, but not if it means she spends more time in the gym than she does with us. Likewise, we’ll forgive you for eating a salad on a first date but not every date for the rest of our lives. Remember, men like curves and women who can bench-press us are somewhat frightening.

5. She’s Down To Earth. The type of attention a drama queen demands from men is not the sort of genuine, will-love-you-forever attention women deserve. We like a woman who forgives the occasional stupid move. If we say the wrong thing in a casual conversation and it wasn’t racist or an otherwise idiotic remark, she remembers that, as humans, we are going to disagree with at least 25 percent of everything anybody says, and so, she lets it go.

6. She Resists Adding Us On Facebook. Where do you want this relationship to go? If you answer, “I’m not sure” or anything other than “to the friend zone with you!” then you should not be friending us on Facebook until it’s established that we are more than chummy.

7. She Returns Our Phone Calls. Every time we dial a number for the first time, we are terrified that one of the following things will happen: a) you won’t remember us, b) we have to think of something witty to say on your voicemail. Unless we were total jerks to you (in which case you shouldn’t have given us your real number), call us back ASAP.

8. She’s Passionate But Isn’t A Zealot.  “It’s inspirational when anyone is really into something. Whether it’s a cause, a hobby or a job, seeing what gets a lady fired-up makes her more attractive (unless it’s dog fighting). Zeal does have its limits, however. Fifty hours of work per week plus another fifty hours of decoupage doesn’t leave much time for dating or finding new passions as a couple”

9. She Has Friends.
“While approaching a gaggle of gals is a little intimidating, dating the lone shewolf is even scarier. It’s nice to know that we can spend some guy time or alone time and not have someone lonely, disappointed and thinking of revenges for this slight. Plus maybe one of your friends will like one of our friends, and who doesn’t like people helping people? The downside is when your friends are jerks, jealous of our time or totally up in our couple business.”

BRITNEY SPEARS HAS A BAD HAIR DAY…AGAIN

Britney Spears was shopping the other day and hopefully new hair extensions were on her list.

Brit was shopping at a Crate and Barrel store in Sherman Oaks, California when she was snapped in an orange tank top, shorts and brown boots.

She also had huge pieces of hair missing from the right, back side of her head. It seems that spot was the site of half-done hair extensions.

10 COMMON ERRORS “SPELL CHECK” WON’T CATCH

Its versus It’s (and all other apostrophes):
Confusing “its” and “it’s” is the most common error in the English language. Also, watch out for “your” versus “you’re.”

Sales versus Sails
Can you imagine writing on your resume that you “increased sails by 20 percent”?! Unless you’re applying to a job for a sail boat manufacturer, this careless mistake will probably get your resume sailing right into the recycling bin.

Affect versus Effect
There is a lot of confusion around this one but here’s the rule: “Affect” is a verb and “effect” is a noun. It’s as simple as that.

Would Have NOT Would of
“Would of” is never correct and may make you appear as if you are not well-read.

Then versus Than
Six is more than five; after five then comes six. “Than” refers to a comparison, while “then” refers to a subsequent event.

Supposed To NOT Suppose To
“Suppose” is a verb, meaning to think or to ponder. The correct way to express a duty is to write, “I was supposed to…”

Their versus There versus They’re
OK, once and for all: “Their” is possessive; “there” refers to distance; and “they’re” is a contraction of “they are.”

BRET MICHAELS OR… CHRIS ISAAK?… YOUR NEXT ‘AMERICAN IDOL’… JUDGE

Another big name has been mentioned to replace Simon Cowell on Fox’s “American Idol.”

Singer Chris Isaak has met twice with FOX.

Meantime, FOX’s entertainment chairman has said he expects the new “Idol” judge to join the audition roadshow by early September.

~~ Isaak, in addition to penning hit songs like 1989’s “Wicked Game,” has appeared in a slew of TV series over the years, including “Eastwick,” “Cold Case,” “Smallville” and his own “Chris Isaak Show” for Showtime.

~~Crooner Harry Connick Jr., also has been considered.

~~ Rocker Bret Michaels has been lobbying for thr gig, but sources say he is out of the running.

MILEY CYRUS SAYS BEING COMPARED TO BRITNEY SPEARS IS A “COMPLIMENT”

Miley Cyrus said that she thinks being compared to Britney Spears is a “compliment”.

She said: “I try to look at everything in my life as positive. So I can either look at it and say it’s negative, and look at the things she’s done wrong, and say, ‘How can someone compare me to her?’, or I could be the positive person and look at all the amazing history that she’s made, and the things that she’s accomplished, and I’ll take it as a compliment. I choose to take it as a compliment.”

11 DATING MANTRAS TO LIVE BY

1. I can’t control his behavior; I can only control my reaction to it.

Take a deep breath, say this mantra, and go for a walk. Once you realize his actions are out of your control, you won’t stress so much and you’ll feel better.

2. I am a human being worthy of love.

3. Everyone is responsible for guarding his or her own heart.

This does not mean put up a wall. It means be realistic. Guarding your heart means keeping expectations in check, being responsible for your own behavior, not making excuses for someone else’s bad behavior, and understanding that things don’t always go your way.

4. Big picture, big picture.

Stop sweating the small stuff.

5. I’m lucky to be alive.

When you’re feeling down about a guy, it’s good to remember how fortunate you truly are.

6. Life never ceases to surprise me.

This helps to accept reality, not fight it.

7. It’s okay to be sad.

It’s a valid feeling. It’s okay to go there, so give yourself permission! You won’t die from sadness. Mourn that relationship and then get back out there and be happy again.

8. I’m taking it one day at a time.

Ask yourself every morning, “Can I be happy today?” And always answer yes.

9. This too shall pass.

It’s impossible to feel bad permanently.

10. Everything will work out in the end.

Telling yourself this makes you feel less anxious about the future.

11. Serenity now!
