LISTEN TO SIMON COWELL’S HAITI SINGLE
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WHAT WENT ON BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE RECORDING OF “WE ARE THE WORLD”

“We Are the World” was rerecorded by 80 artists the other night in the same studio where the original song was cut 25 years ago.
Pink, Natalie Cole, Kanye West, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Brian Wilson and others stood shoulder-to-shoulder and sang to raise money for Haiti.
Lionel Richie said: “This one, the enthusiasm, I’ve never seen anything like it.”
“We Are the World – 25 for Haiti” will premiere next week during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics on NBC.
After the artists finished recording together, Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones worked with a chosen group of soloists, including Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger.
At one point during a break, the musicians broke out into an a cappella version of “Lean on Me.”
Barbra Streisand was seen recording her solo over and over. She was totally into the recording process and stopped only to correct her pitch.
Later, a who’s who of rappers, including Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J and Wyclef Jean, recorded a verse written by Black Eyed Peas frontman and producer will.i.am.
Lil Wayne said he was blessed to record the song but was surprised when he was told he would do Bob Dylan’s part from the original.
The whole thing was shot using 3-D cameras and a few people even dressed in head-to-toe green and stood next to the celebrities. That way, when the video comes out, people will be able to insert themselves into the crowd.
Al Jardine approached Enrique Iglesias about singing a Spanish song on his new album. India Arie said she was just coming off a three-month writing sabbatical and was happy to return to work. Akon’s mother is a fan of “American Idol,” and got to meet Randy Jackson.

Lady Gaga was missing from the “We Are the World” recording because she turned Quincy Jones down!
Quincy literally begged her to come but she turned him down because she “didn’t get it.”
Other people surprisingly weren’t there included Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez and Madonna.
Taylor Swift’s touring schedule kept her from joining. Beyonce went back to New York with Jay-Z and Janet Jackson was out of town but will still be contributing vocals remotely. Janet will sing her brother Michael’s part from the original.

JAY-Z SAYS USHER IS THE NEXT MICHAEL JACKSON
Jay-Z thinks Usher is next in line for the title of King of Pop.
Jay said: “I thought the Michael Jackson tribute was fantastic and I thought Usher was doing a magnificent job. I think he’s one of the guys that’s in line to fill those huge shoes. I don’t wanna put that pressure on him, but I think he’s one of the guy’s that’s in line to do that.”
8 CRAZIEST HEALTH RUMORS
1.) Baby carrots are preserved with bleach
Baby carrots are rinsed (not preserved) in a chlorine wash, which is recommended by the FDA, to kill bacteria. Most precut produce, including frozen veggies and fruit salad, is washed with this or a similar sanitizer.
2.) Working out on an empty stomach burns more fat
It does, but don’t expect any fat-melting miracles. When you exercise, your body burns calories from both fat and carbohydrates. Recent studies show that working out on an empty stomach might burn a few more fat calories since you don’t have as many carb calories to spare, but overall calorie burn is about the same.
3.) Eating too much sugar causes diabetes
Not in the same smoking-gun way that cigarettes cause cancer, but research shows that sugar may play a part.
4.) Does Listerine mouthwash help keep mosquitoes away?
No. Although Internet postings swear it’s true, scientists beg to differ. People who sprayed Listerine on their arms were just as likely to be bitten as those who didn’t use any repellent.
5.) Spicy foods boost metabolism
Your metabolic rate is determined by your gender, height, present weight/body composition, and age. These factors determine the amount of calories the body will burn to maintain the basic functions of life that occur even when we sleep. Eating spicy foods cannot help you burn more calories.
6.) Liquid eyeliner causes sinus infections
This rumor presumes that eyeliner is able to drain into the sinuses, get trapped, and cause an infection, but according to docs, that’s not possible. If you develop eye irritation and sinus symptoms after wearing eyeliner, you probably had an allergic reaction.
7.) It’s safe to follow the 5-second rule for dropped food
It’s probably not even safe to follow a 1-second rule: The transfer of bacteria from a contaminated surface to food is almost instantaneous-or, at the very least, quicker than your reflexes. After just 5 seconds, food would have already picked up as many as 1,800 bacteria.
8.) Can cracking your knuckles cause arthritis?
Nope. One study compared 74 people (ages 45 and older) who had been chronic knuckle crackers for decades with 226 who always left their hands alone… there was no difference in arthritis rates between the two groups.
