ARE YOU STRESSED?

Yes, it seems Americans are far more stressed lately due to the problems with the economy.  So, what are we to do for relief?  Well, there happen to be quite a few interesting answers to that particular problem, and they might surprise you!

In the bad economy, many people are finding comfort in their four-legged companions.  Here are the results of a survey of 400 Americans with pets, conducted by marketing company Catalyst Direct.

How has the economy changed you?
73% — more worried about finances.
64% — more anxious.
59% — less confident.
32% — had an impact on their sense of identity.

How do your pets help you deal with economic stresses?
89% — their pets help them deal with the stresses of life.
86% — value their pets’ appreciation, despite their own concerns about finances and job security.
83% — appreciate the steady presence their pets provide in an uncertain economy.

Pet owners say they would decrease spending on purchases for themselves before cutting back on purchases for their pets.  Here’s a look at where they’d reduce spending:
79% — vacations.
77% — clothing.
49% — certain personal/family food items.
41% — Internet/cable.
41% — gas.
